CCNA Security

Overview

Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The CCNA Security curriculum emphasizes core security technologies, the installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices, and competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

Prerequisites

Any valid Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching can act as a prerequisite.

Training and Certification

Implementing Cisco Network Security (210-260 IINS)

The course focuses on security principles and technologies, using Cisco security products to provide hands-on examples. Using instructor-led discussions, extensive hands-on lab exercises, and supplemental materials, this course allows learners to understand common security concepts, and deploy basic security techniques utilizing a variety of popular security appliances within a "real-life" network infrastructure.

 

CCNP Security

Overview

Cisco Certified Network Professional Security (CCNP Security) certification program is aligned specifically to the job role of the Cisco Network Security Engineer responsible for Security in Routers, Switches, Networking devices and appliances, as well as choosing, deploying, supporting and troubleshooting Firewalls, VPNS, and IDS/IPS solutions for their networking environments.

Prerequisites

Valid CCNA Security certification can act as a prerequisite.

Training and Certification

Implementing Cisco Secure Access Solutions (300-208 SISAS)

This course prepares network security engineers with the skills and knowledge needed to deploy the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and 802.1X secure network access and to implement and manage network access security by using the Cisco ISE appliance product solution.

Implementing Cisco Edge Network Security Solutions (300-206 SENSS)

This course prepares network security engineers with the skills and knowledge needed to configure Cisco perimeter edge security solutions utilizing Cisco switches, Cisco routers, and Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) firewalls and to implement and manage security on Cisco ASA firewalls, Cisco routers with the firewall feature set, and Cisco switches.

Implementing Cisco Secure Mobility Solutions (300-209 SIMOS)

This course prepares network security engineers with the knowledge and skills needed to protect data traversing a public or shared infrastructure such as the Internet by implementing and maintaining Cisco VPN solutions and troubleshooting remote-access and site-to-site VPN solutions, using Cisco ASA adaptive security appliances and Cisco IOS routers.

Implementing Cisco Threat Control Solutions (300-210 SITCS)

This course prepares network security engineers with the knowledge and skills to implement Ciscos FirePOWER Next-Generation IPS, AMP, as well as Web Security, Email Security and Cloud Web Security. You will gain hands-on experience with configuring various advance Cisco security solutions for mitigating outside threats and securing traffic traversing the firewall.

 

CCIE Security

Overview

The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert Security (CCIE Security) program recognizes individuals who have the knowledge and skills to implement, maintain and support extensive Cisco Network Security Solutions using the latest industry best practices and technologies.

Prerequisites

 

There are no formal prerequisites for CCIE certification. Other professional certifications or training courses are not required. Instead, candidates must first pass a written qualification exam and then the corresponding hands-on lab exam. You are expected to have an in-depth understanding of the topics in the exam blueprints and strongly encouraged to have three to five years of job experience before attempting certification.

Step One: CCIE Security Written Exam (350-018)

You must pass the two-hour, written qualification exam covering networking concepts and some equipment commands before you are eligible to schedule the lab exam.

Step Two: CCIE Security Lab Exam

The eight-hour lab exam tests your ability to get a secure network running in a timed test situation. You must make an initial attempt of the CCIE lab exam within 18-months of passing the CCIE written exam. 

CCIE Security Written Exam version 4.0

Exam Description

The Cisco CCIE® Security Written Exam (350-018) version 4.0 is a 2-hour test with 90–110 questions. This exam tests the skills and competencies of security professionals in terms of describing, implementing, deploying, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco network security solutions and products, as well as current industry best practices and internetworking fundamentals.

Topics include networking fundamentals and security-related concepts and best practices, as well as Cisco network security products and solutions in areas such as VPNs, intrusion prevention, firewalls, identity services, policy management, and device hardening. Content includes both IPv4 and IPv6 concepts and solutions.

The exam is closed book, and no outside reference materials are allowed.

CCIE Security Lab Exam version 4.0

Exam Description

The Cisco CCIE® Security Lab Exam version 4.0 is an 8-hour practical hands-on exam that tests the skills and competencies of security professionals in terms of configuring and troubleshooting Cisco security products and solutions.

Candidates may be required to perform implementation, optimization and troubleshooting actions in each of the exam topic sections. Content may include both IPv4 and IPv6 concepts and applications.
